What ID do I need to pawn or sell at Florida Pawn?

Florida law requires a valid government-issued photo ID — a driver's license, state ID, or passport. You must be 18 or older. For firearm transactions, additional federal requirements apply.

Where are Florida Pawn's locations?

Florida Pawn has two Broward County locations: 1944 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood FL 33020 (call 954-353-7296) and 1303 FL-7, Margate FL 33063 (call 754-999-5626). Both are open Monday–Friday 10 AM–6 PM and Saturday 10 AM–5 PM. Closed Sundays.

How much will I get for my item?

Offers are based on the item's current resale market value, condition, and demand. For gold and silver we pay top dollar based on current market rates. For electronics and watches we check current market comps. There's no minimum or maximum — we evaluate each item individually. Call us for a quick estimate before coming in.

What is Broward County's 5-business-day hold?

Florida law requires all pawn shops in Broward County to hold purchased items for a minimum of five business days before resale. This is a state-mandated consumer protection measure. Items are securely stored during the hold period. Pawn loan collateral is not subject to this hold — it remains available for redemption throughout your loan term.

Do you buy electronics without accessories?

No. All electronics must be in full working order and include all cables, remotes, chargers, and accessories required to operate them. Items must also be within one generation of the current model. Non-functional items or items missing essential accessories cannot be accepted.

Do I need an appointment to get an appraisal?

No appointment needed. Walk in during business hours at either our Hollywood or Margate location and we'll appraise your items on the spot, usually in a few minutes. Monday–Friday 10 AM–6 PM, Saturday 10 AM–5 PM.

What happens if I can't repay my pawn loan?

If you're unable to repay, the item becomes the property of Florida Pawn. There is no further financial obligation, no collections, and no impact on your credit score. Pawn loans are non-recourse — your collateral is the only security.

Does Florida Pawn buy firearms?

Yes, but only at our Margate location (1303 FL-7, Margate FL 33063), which is a federally licensed FFL dealer. We legally buy, sell, and accept firearms as pawn collateral. Our Hollywood location does not handle firearm transactions.

Do you accept memorabilia or collectibles?

Florida Pawn accepts graded memorabilia with paperwork at our discretion. Ungraded memorabilia, loose trading cards, and sports collectibles without authentication are not accepted. We focus primarily on gold, silver, jewelry, diamonds, luxury watches, electronics, firearms (Margate only), musical instruments, and power tools.

A Family Business Built on Trust

Florida Pawn is a family-run business with roots going back to 1947, when Martin Kaminsky returned from WWII service and opened a shop in Brooklyn — buying, selling, and repairing the timepieces he had learned to work with during the war.

His son Mitchell joined after earning his MBA, expanding the business into one of the largest pawnbroking operations in the New York metro area. After Mitchell's passing in 2017, the next generation of the Kaminsky family has continued that legacy.

Florida Pawn carries that same family tradition to Broward County. Our Hollywood and Margate locations operate on the same principles that have guided the business for generations: honest appraisals, fair prices, and genuine respect for every customer who walks through the door.

If you miss a payment, Florida Pawn provides a 30-day grace period during which an additional 5–25% interest charge accrues to the remaining balance. If the loan is still not repaid or extended after this period, the collateral item may be forfeited. There is no impact to your credit score — pawn loans are non-recourse loans.

Yes. Secure any item with a 20% deposit. General merchandise can be held for up to 30 days; jewelry and watches can be placed on layaway for up to 10 months. A two-week grace period applies to missed layaway payments.

Refund requests must be made within 15 days of purchase. Items must be in original condition with all original packaging. In-store exchanges are accepted within 15 days with original receipt. No cash refunds in store (defective items excepted). See our full Returns & Exchanges policy.
